The Samsung 633L counters with Power Freeze features, which boast of 28 percent freezing faster than the traditional freezers. The Samsung also has a convenient water and ice dispenser which does not require opening the freezer door to get the ice.

The inbuilt dispenser of the Samsung may be a major plus to families that require ice regularly or value the convenience of dispensed water.

Smart Features Performance

The findings of a smart feature comparison demonstrate the obvious difference between the two refrigerators.

The LG 655L has Smart Diagnosis, a quick and simple method of troubleshooting problems with your smartphone. Multi Digital Sensors are used to ensure that the quality of food is preserved longer by controlling the conditions inside the refrigerator.

The Samsung 633L is an upgraded version that supports WiFi connectivity, SmartThings app, and AI-based energy management. The SmartThings AI Energy Mode uses the patterns of use to optimise the consumption of power.

The Convertible 5-in-1 feature is one of the factors that puts Samsung at an advantage since users can alternate between the Normal Mode, Extra Fridge Mode, Seasonal Mode, Vacation Mode and Home Alone Mode based on their requirements.

Ease of use of these side by side refrigerators?

The LG 655L as well as Samsung 633L are user friendly with user friendly interfaces. As stated earlier, each model has LED displays that control the temperature and monitor it.

The LG 655L has an LED Internal Display, which has temperature, Express Cool and Express Freeze controls. Other convenience features are Child Lock and Door Alarm.

To control the LG 655L, you can use:

  • Internal display physical buttons.
  • Smart Diagnosis through smartphone in troubleshooting.

To control the Samsung 633L, you may use:

  • Physical internal display buttons.
  • Through your SmartThings app on your smartphone or tablet.
  • WiFi Remote monitoring and control

The possibility to monitor and control your refrigerator remotely with the help of the SmartThings app is one of the advantages that Samsung provides. This involves monitoring door status, regulating temperatures and getting notifications when something goes wrong.

Both models have a Door Alarm feature that indicates whether the door has been left open to prevent wastage of food.

Build Quality and Design

The quality of the construction of every one of these models is high, as they both have stainless steel doors and toughened glass shelves. The two refrigerators are smooth and modern in appearance that can fit in modern kitchens.

As a point of reference, the LG 655L has a size of 91.3 x 73.5 x 179 cm (W x D x H) and a weight of 103 kg. The size of the Samsung 633L is 91.2 x 71.6 x 178 cm (W x D x H) and weighs 107 kg.

The Samsung has a slightly narrower depth of 71.6 cm than the LG depth of 73.5 cm, which may be useful in the smaller kitchen.

The two models have fingerprint-resistant finishes, the LG in Dazzle Steel and the Samsung in Refined Inox silver, which helps keep the models clean with little maintenance.

Are these Refrigerators Worth the Money?

And the big question is, which is the better value between the two refrigerators?

The LG 655L and Samsung 633L are the same in terms of their BEE rating (3 Star), frost free, hardened glass shelves and high quality stainless steel construction.

The differences between the two models include:

Overall capacity
Energy consumption
Intelligent functionality and WiFi.
Water and ice dispenser
Convertible modes
Warranty period of compressor.
Price

The value of each model can differ depending on the significance of these features to you.

One of them, the LG does have some degree of advantage in pure storage and efficiency. The increased 655L space and much reduced 270 units/annual energy usage may be converted into long-term savings. The same is applicable to the Express Freeze feature that offers quick freezing when required.

As the price of electricity increases with time, the reduced energy consumption of the LG decreases the difference in the total cost of ownership of these two products. This is basically equal to the worth of intelligent features and convenience. Would you pay more and increased energy bills to have WiFi connectivity, AI-powered management, a water dispenser, and convertible modes?

LG 655L vs Samsung 633L Which one is Right?

Thus, the choice between the LG 655L and Samsung 633L is divided by a number of major factors. The most significant differences between these two models are as follows:

Capacity and Storage

The LG 655L is clearly the best option when it comes to maximum storage space. It has 22 litres of increased capacity and a bigger freezer area, which makes it more spacious to families with big storage requirements.

Energy Efficiency

Despite being rated at 3-star in BEE, the LG 655L uses almost half the amount of energy used by Samsung 633L in a year. To the environmentalist or the cost-sensitive consumer, the 270 units per year of LG compared to the 535 units of Samsung may be a huge saving in the lifetime of the refrigerator.

Intelligent Capabilities and Interconnectedness.

Users who are tech-savvy will have a distinct benefit in the Samsung 633L, which has WiFi connectivity, SmartThings application integration, and artificial intelligence capabilities. Cheque on your refrigerator, get notifications and manage energy consumption on your phone.

Cooling Performance

In addition to the specifications, actual cooling performance plays a huge role in how well a refrigerator works. Comparing the LG 242 to the Samsung 236, which model performs the best?

LG 242
Door Cooling+™ – 35% Faster

Samsung 236
All Round Cooling – 23% Faster

How do we evaluate?

A full cooling performance evaluation here consists of multiple different factors. We assess cooling based on four different criteria:

  • Cooling speed
  • Temperature consistency
  • Freshness retention
  • Energy efficiency

And test the refrigerator across three different usage scenarios:

  • Daily household use
  • Heavy storage conditions
  • Power cut situations

Here were our results for the LG 242 vs Samsung 236:

Cooling Speed Tests

LG 242
35% Faster

Samsung 236
23% Faster

Both of these refrigerators did a fantastic job of cooling down quickly after door opening. The LG 242 cooled 35% faster with its Door Cooling+™ technology and the Samsung 236 was close behind with 23% faster cooling. Overall, I was satisfied across the board with both of these refrigerators.

Convertible Freezer of Samsung 236 L 3 StarDouble Door Refrigerator
Convertible Freezer of Samsung 236 L 3 StarDouble Door Refrigerator

Temperature Consistency

LG 242
Excellent

Samsung 236
Very Good

On temperature consistency, the LG 242 maintained more even temperatures throughout the compartment with its Multi Air Flow system. The Samsung 236’s All Round Cooling performed well, but showed slightly more temperature variation near the door shelves.

Missing consistent door-side cooling isn’t entirely uncommon for a refrigerator at this price point, so this wasn’t too surprising, especially considering the budget price of the Samsung 236.

Freshness Retention

LG 242
Up to 7 Days

Samsung 236
Up to 15 Days

We saw an interesting difference when testing freshness retention. The Samsung 236 claims up to 15 days of fresh food storage, outperforming the LG 242 in this category. This is likely due to the difference in humidity control and the Samsung’s Twin Cooling Plus technology.

Inside view of vegetable box and tray of LG 242L Refrigerator
Inside view of vegetable box and tray of LG 242L Refrigerator
Vegetable box and shelves of Samsung 236 L 3 StarDouble Door Refrigerator
Vegetable box and shelves of Samsung 236 L 3 StarDouble Door Refrigerator

This is likely due to the difference in cooling system design. It’s just a lot easier for moisture to be retained through Samsung’s specialized freshness features.

How does it cool?

Both of these refrigerators offer smart inverter compressor technology, so the cooling operation of both feels quiet and energy-efficient.

These inverter compressors may also be more efficient compared to conventional compressors that run at fixed speeds.

That being said, the cooling performance proves that, although different in approach, these refrigerators can both get the job done.

LG 242 vs. Samsung 236 – Which is the better?

Comparing the LG 242 vs. Samsung 236, each model certainly has their advantages. But to be honest, the real winner of this showdown will depend on what kind of user you are. The LG 242 brings some speed to the table with its door cooling, a bit more space to play with, and a proven track record with its Smart Inverter tech. On the other hand the Samsung 236 gives you the ability to convert storage as needed, is a bit more energy efficient, keeps food fresher for a lot longer, and can run on a wider range of voltages. Both are pretty great options but if you’re looking for a bit more flexibility then i think the Samsung 236 just edges out the LG 242.

LG 242 & Samsung 236 Differences

The LG 242 and the Samsung 236 are both good double door fridges for people who are on a tight budget. Theyve both chosen to go without some of the nicest bells and whistles and just stick with the basics – which means good cooling performance without a lot of fancy extras.

Even with all the similarities though, there are a few key differences between these two models worth knowing about. Some of the main differences include:

LG 264 vs. Samsung 330 Design Differences.

On the surface, the LG 264L and Samsung 330L are in the traditional freezer-on-top design. Without the various finishes and handle designs that are done by each refrigerator, it would be quite difficult to distinguish the two at a distance.

LG 264L has a Shiny Steel finish with a pocket-style handle, which makes it look sleek and minimalist. Samsung 330L, however, has a flat door design with recess handle which makes it look more modern.

The two refrigerators have toughened glass shelves in all parts of the refrigerator that contributes to durability and cleaning of the refrigerator.

How the LG 264 & Samsung 330 Cool

Both LG 264L and Samsung 330L have frost-free technology and automatic defrost.

LG 264L has Multi-Air Flow cooling system. This system was created to keep the humidity and temperature at the optimum level to ensure that food is fresher longer. Even cool air is spread across the refrigerator compartment minimising temperature variation.

The Samsung 330L is somewhat different in its Twin Cooling Plus technology. In this system, two independent evaporators are employed to cool the fridge and the freezer independently. Although this design allows mixing of odours between compartments to be avoided, it also aids in preserving foods at the optimum level of humidity.

Convertible Modes

Again, the LG 264L and Samsung 330L both have convertible capability. This design enables the users to customise storage according to their requirements.

LG 264L Convertible Features

The LG 264L has a convertible option whereby you can manage two parts of the fridge. This option provides additional space to accommodate your evolving requirements, such as additional fridge space or saving energy by changing the use of compartments.

The LG 264L has a Micom Tact temperature control system which is found within the unit. This enables users to change cooling levels according to their requirements.

Stabilizer-Free Operation

Neither the LG 264L nor Samsung 330L require an external stabiliser to work. The LG 264L operates on 100 V to 310 V whereas Samsung 330L operates on 100 V to 300 V.

This is a very handy feature especially in places where power supply is intermittent because it will not be necessary to buy another stabiliser.

Better value between LG 264 and Samsung 330?

LG 264L Value

The energy rating of the LG 264L is lower, but the value remains rather good. The lower price with the Smart Inverter Compressor and Multi-Air Flow cooling can be compared to some more expensive models of the double door refrigerator.

I believe that the LG 264L has a good value proposition in the case of smaller families or people with smaller kitchen spaces. The 10-year compressor warranty gives the customer peace of mind and the Anti-Bacteria Gasket gives an added hygiene protection.

Warranty: 1 year comprehensive + 10 years on compressor

Samsung 330L Value

Overall, Samsung 330L is a good value, particularly to the bigger families. The increased energy rating and other smart features definitely contribute to its attractiveness, which is my opinion.

The key advantages of having the Samsung 330L over the LG 264L are the increased capacity, 5-in-1 convertible, AI Energy Mode, and WiFi capabilities. The additional 66 litres of storage and the 20-year compressor warranty would be sufficient to change your mind.

The Bespoke AI feature of Samsung 330L and the SmartThings compatibility will allow tech-savvy users to consider the model more valuable even at a higher price.

LG 446L vs Samsung 419L – Is it a good value?

Ok, so what about value- what is best? The LG 446L or the Samsung 419L?

The prices of the two models can vary, but they are generally competitive within the segment.

The LG has a capacity that is 27 litres higher (446L vs. 419L), which is not insignificant. In the case of large families, this can be the element that causes the LG to push the top in the value department and others might be interested in the superior energy efficiency of the Samsung.

The Samsung uses 89 units of less electricity per year (252 vs 341 units) which translates to huge savings on the cost of the refrigerator in the lifetime of the refrigerator. Having a 3-star rating, as compared to 1-star, Samsung is obviously more energy-efficient.

The LG however has a bigger storage capacity which may be important to a bigger family or one who likes to stock up on groceries.

The Differences – LG 446L vs Samsung 419L

#1. Storage Capacity

The maximum holding capacity of the LG 446L is 446 litres and the Samsung 419L has a maximum holding capacity of 419 litres. The LG also has a bigger freezer space of 114 litres than Samsung 95 litres.

#2. Energy Efficiency

The greatest difference is in energy efficiency. The Samsung 419L is rated 3 stars with an annual consumption of 252 units and LG 446L is rated 1 star with an annual consumption of 341 units. This is about 26% less energy consumption on the Samsung model.

#3. Smart Technology

The Samsung 419L also has full smart capabilities such as Wi-Fi, SmartThings app, and AI Energy Mode. The LG 446L lacks smart connectivity, but it has conventional controls with Smart Diagnosis.

#4. Convertible Flexibility

Although both models have convertible technology, the Samsung has five different convertible options to LG, which has only one freezer-to-fridge conversion option, which is more flexible to use in other scenarios.

#5. Cooling Technology

The LG has a Door Cooling+ technology that cools 35% faster whereas the Samsung has a Twin Cooling Plus with independent evaporators to avoid mixing odours and ensure maximum freshness of the two compartments.

Digital Inverter vs. Smart Inverter: What is the difference?

Samsung is using Digital Inverter Compressor technology in their refrigerators. This compressor is automatically adjusting its speed based on cooling demand. When you are opening the door frequently or putting warm food inside, it is speeding up. When cooling demand is less, it is slowing down and saving energy. Samsung is claiming their Digital Inverter is having 7 speed settings for optimal performance.

Now LG is using Smart Inverter Compressor which is also BLDC (Brushless Direct Current) motor technology. The LG compressor is working on similar principle but they are claiming it is producing less noise and vibrations compared to conventional compressors. Both technologies are essentially giving you variable speed operation, but the internal engineering and control algorithms are different.

Which cooling system is better – Samsung or LG?

Its a tough call to say which one is definitively better, as there are good points to be made for each.

The Good Stuff
  • Twin Cooling Plus tech really does do a great job of keeping the fridge and freezer air totally separate, which means no annoying odours transferring between and keeping humidity in check.
  • Door Cooling+ is clever as it targets the warmest area of the fridge (the door bins) and really helps keep the temperature steady even when the doors are flying open all day.
The Not-So-Good Stuff
  • The Twin Cooling Plus thing does use a bit more energy to run two independent evaporators, but then again those Digital Inverter Compressors are pretty efficient so it all balances out.
  • Door Cooling+ is only really going to make a difference if you use the door storage a lot or if you’re always opening your fridge door – if not, its not going to be as noticeable.
NOTE: Both Samsung and LG models have frost-free operation as standard and they both have auto defrost cycles, so you don’t need to worry about manually defrosting your fridge.

Samsung vs. LG Accessories

Both Samsung and LG come with the basic essentials and focus on building some pretty top-notch fridges. Here are the key extras you can expect from each brand:

Samsung: What’s In The Box?

Power cord – pretty standard stuff.
Egg tray – yeah, that’s about it.
Movable ice maker thingy – you can pop that wherever suits you.
User manual – you probably won’t need it to figure this out.
Warranty card – just in case something goes wrong

LG: What’s In The Box?

Power cord – they all come with this by default.
Egg tray ( or 2 ) – LG arent shy with extras.
Twist ice tray (lever & 1-2 trays depending on model) – got a water bottle in the kitchen? youve got a place for it.
User manual – same deal here, you’ll be fine without it.
Warranty card – better safe than sorry I suppose

Both brands got the basics covered along with some easy peasy accessories that are super simple to swap out or install when you need to.

For Samsung – the ice maker is pretty flexible, pop it wherever you want & the glass shelves are adjustable so you can store all your food however you like.

On LG – the twist ice maker has that clever lever thing, & some models even come with 2 ice trays so you can chuck out more ice. The veg boxes are pretty clever to, keeping your greens in optimal condition.

Samsung vs. LG Features

We’ve covered the essentials, so now let’s focus on the exciting part—the features that make this shine. Let’s dive in.

Convertible Modes

Convertible functionality – you can get it from either Samsung or LG, though Samsung has a way to go with the full package.

The Modes you can switch to on Samsung Fridge/Freezers are:

Normal Operating Mode: This is the one where the fridge and the freezer just do their thing, each keeping to its own ideal temperature.
Extra Fridge – use the freezer as another fridge space for up to 88L of extra room, that’s on double door models.
Seasonal Mode: Theyre trying to save some energy & save you some cash by optimising the cooling for the time of year and how many people are using it.
Vacation Mode for me & you – turns the fridge down to not waste power when you’re away on holiday.
Home Alone Mode – cut down on capacity to keep things chilled while you’re flying solo

LG Fridge/Freezers have their own set of options:

Standard Mode – this is just business as usual, fridge & freezer working nicely inside optimal temperature zones.
Freezer to Fridge Mode – with this you can just flip the freezer section to instant fridge space when you need it.

Samsung vs LG Performance – A Breakdown

To gain a clear understanding of Samsung and LG refrigerator performance, we carried out an examination of the ice formation data and specifications.

Cooling Speed – How Fast Can It Chill?

Samsung – The Cooling Comparison:

Their Power Cool mode is reportedly 23% faster than standard modes.
The Power Freeze option comes with a claimed 28-31% faster ice formation.
And their Twin Cooling Plus system does a great job of keeping the fridge and freezer at their own separate temperatures – that’s got to help keep things fresh

LG – Cooling Performance That Stands Out

LG’s Door Cooling+ is said to be 35% faster and more even than standard systems – that’s some serious cooling power.
Their LINEAR Cooling system is designed to keep things rock steady – only ±0.5°C variation from the set point – that’s precision cooling if ever I saw it.
Multi Air Flow does what it says on the tin – gets air flowing evenly throughout all the compartments so nothing gets left behind

Temperature Consistency – Keeping it Fresh

Its separate evaporator is a key part of Samsung’s Twin Cooling Plus system. This keeps the conditions in the fridge and freezer completely separate – and that makes a big difference when it comes to keeping smells at bay and getting the perfect humidity.

Designed to limit temperature variation, LG’s LINEAR Cooling helps ensure that delicate produce and dairy are stored under optimal conditions.

How loud is each brand?

Samsung Noise Levels

Side-by-side RS78CG8543S9HL

37-40 dB(A)

Double door RT28C3733S8/HL

42 dB(A)

LG Noise Levels:

Side-by-side GL-B257HDSY

37-40 dB(A)

Double door models

38 – 45 dB

Above dB levels are based on what the manufacturers claim they are – although Samsung does go into a bit more detail when it comes to noise ratings, LG isn’t quite so forthcoming, instead just touting its quiet operation as a key selling point without getting into any actual decibel numbers.

Samsung vs. LG: What’s the better value?

If you’re looking for the absolute best bang for your buck, should you lean towards Samsung or LG?

Well, as you might expect, it really depends on what you’re looking for.

Both of these manufacturers offer premium refrigerators that are made with quality components and backed by solid warranties.

Warranty Comparison

Samsung Warranty:
