Best LG Refrigerator Overall – LG 343L 3 Star GL-S382SDSX

The LG 343L 3 Star GL-S382SDSX is the best LG refrigerator in general, though. This is the most impressive of the features of a refrigerator and even though it is not the highest quality model in the line, the smart technology and crude cooling of the GL-S382SDSX makes it a no-brainer of the best LG refrigerator in the market.

The GL-S382SDSX is equipped with a Smart Inverter Compressor and convertible freezer section, which is energy saving, as well as provides versatile storage in a sleek Dazzle Steel finish.
What We Liked
- Freezer section that is convertible. The LG GL-S382SDSX has a convertible freezer which allows you to convert part of the freezer into more fridge space when you require it. This versatile design enables you to keep more fresh food on hand during special events or seasonal needs and this makes it highly convenient to the Indian families.
- Smart Inverter Compressor. GL-S382SDSX possesses a Smart Inverter Compressor (BLDC) that is silent and efficient to ensure maximum cooling. It regulates its speed according to the cooling needs within the refrigerator and it uses much less energy than the traditional compressors. The compressor also has a 10 year warranty that provides you with peace of mind in the long run.
- Excellent smart features. This refrigerator includes Smart Diagnosis, Auto Smart connect and Multi Air Flow technology, which makes it simpler to service and use. It has a total storage capacity of 343 litres and can also be used with a home inverter when there is a power outage. This enables the refrigerator to continue operating automatically without any form of manual control and uses less power than 2 CFL bulbs.
Take Note
- 3 Star energy rating. Like any other product that is good in performance and cost, it may also be associated with trade-offs. GL-S382SDSX has a 3 Star energy rating, and this implies that it is not the most energy efficient product in the market in case you want the lowest electricity bills.
- Large footprint. The GL-S382SDSX is not the right choice in case you have a small kitchen and need a compact refrigerator. The dimensions of the product are 600 x 1720 x 710 mm and the product weight is 61 kg and this top-mount double door refrigerator is definitely going to be felt.
Best LG Refrigerator to Indian Families.
Among the greatest advantages of a convertible refrigerator, there is the flexibility that can be adjusted to your needs and is ideal in the case of growing families. In considering Indian families we considered the following factors:
- Price: No matter what type of refrigerator you are buying, price will be an issue in any purchase.
- Storage capacity: The storage capacity is very generous with 343-litre capacity which gives the family more space to store their groceries and the convertible freezer option can further expand the usable fridge space.
- Intelligent technology: Auto Smart Connect and Smart Diagnosis Smart Diagnosis Smart Diagnosis is a nice addition to a refrigerator that can be located in regions where power outages are frequent.
- Cooling performance: Multi Air Flow cooling earned bonus points over the older (less uniform) single-vent cooling systems.
- Compressor quality: The Smart Inverter Compressor (BLDC) system is more efficient in keeping the consistency temperatures without the noise and energy waste of conventional compressors.
Best Value LG Refrigerator – LG 264 L (GL-S302SPZY)
LG 264 L Frost-Free Double Door Refrigerator is one of the most useful models in the existing line of LG and has an excellent combination of features, capacity, and cost. It has much in common with the more expensive LG side-by-side refrigerators in the quality of cooling and smart features, and its preservation of food performance is also impressive in its category.

The LG GL-S302SPZY is equipped with Smart Connect and Smart Diagnosis to allow direct connexion to your home inverter when power outages occur or to find out what is wrong fast through your smartphone via the LG Smart ThinQ platform.

What We Liked
- Smart Inverter Compressor. LG GL-S302SPZY operates on a Smart Inverter Compressor which varies the power of cooling depending on the quantity of food stored in the fridge. The technology of the inverter will guarantee efficiency in energy consumption, reduced noise levels and increased durability, which will be supported by a strong 10-year warranty on the compressor.
- Multi Air Flow cooling. GL-S302SPZY makes use of the Multi Air Flow System which evenly dispenses cool air to all shelves and corners. The fact that there are several vents located in strategic places within the unit means that Multi Air Flow is combined with the ability to control the temperature accurately, and thus, the refrigerator is able to keep the freshness and the ideal humidity levels constant.
- Convertible storage. The LG GL-S302SPZY has a convertible capability, just like the LG high end side-by-side models. The real compartments are adjustable to your storage requirements according to the season or usage. The vegetable tray will have 23 litre capacity and the trimless tempered glass shelves are fully adjustable.
Take Note
- 2 Star energy rating. The LG GL-S302SPZY is rated lower in terms of energy. It does not have the greater efficiency ratings, such as with other advanced LG models (ie: GL-B257EET3 or GL-B257HDSY). This implies a slight increase in electricity consumption per year as well.
- No Wi-Fi connectivity. It does not have Wi-Fi or any app-based control feature, but with Smart Connect technology, it can automatically switch to your home inverter when power goes out and keep operating without any human intervention.
Other Top Recommendations

LG 655 L Side-by-Side (GL-B257HDSY)
The LG GL-B257HDSY is by no means as cheap as the GL-S302SPZY, but when it comes to weighing the price against what you are getting the 655 L side-by-side is a feature-filled machine with Express Freeze, Multi Digital Sensors, Smart Diagnosis, and the generous 239 litres of freezer and 416 litres of fresh food storage.

LG 650 L Side-by-Side (GL-B257EET3)
Based on pure value, the GL-B257EET3 is likely to be a little superior value to the GL-B257HDSY. It remains to have outstanding cooling capability, Wi-Fi Convertible, Door Cooling+, Hygiene Fresh+ with up to 99 percent bacteria elimination, and AI ThinQ integration to optimise cooling according to usage.
Best Budget LG – LG 242L Double Door Refrigerator GL-I292RPZX
LG GL-I292RPZX is a basic model of a double door refrigerator, introduced by LG as one of the models in its smart inverter series. The fact that it has Door Cooling+ technology and good solid cooling performance makes it one of the best budget refrigerators in the market (LG or otherwise).

GL-I292RPZX has all the characteristics you desire such as frost-free, hardened glass shelves, and intelligent inverter compressor. It also has a significant lack of a base stand drawer, which can be compensated by an external organiser in case of additional storage. It is just a basic double door fridge, yet it can still do the job.

What We Liked
- Smart Inverter Compressor. GL-I292RPZX has the same smart inverter compressor technology as LG has in its high-end refrigerators. Similar to other models in the budget segment, it does not have sophisticated AI-based cooling control, but the inverter compressor is exceptionally efficient in maximising energy use and minimising noise (depending on load and ambient conditions).
- Door Cooling+ technology. The GL-I292RPZX unlike the older models provides even temperature distribution and a cooling that is 35 percent faster than the conventional cooling systems. You will find that there will be fewer temperature differences between the inner compartment and the door side that will keep food fresher longer.
Take Note
- Basic energy rating. The GL-I292RPZX has a 3 Star BEE energy rating which is the lower level of the higher rated models available in the market today (3 Star vs. 5 Star). It is a small efficiency which is combined with an annual energy consumption of 232 kilowatt hour per year.
- Basic temperature control. The temperature control of the GL-I292RPZX is basically a manual knob-based control. It is a set and forget type whereby you have to manually set the knob and monitor cooling levels as seasons vary around the house.
- No base stand drawer. This model is simple, and therefore it does not have a base stand drawer where one can keep more dry goods such as onions or potatoes.
How does Door Cooling+ work?
The refrigerator has a series of vents on the door side of the compartment that assists the refrigerator in distributing the cool air throughout the interior and multi-air flow channels on the inside that assists the unit in maintaining optimal humidity levels, such as around the vegetable trays or door shelves.
This system is constructed on the Multi-Air Flow cooling technology. The more expensive models run on LG Linear Cooling technology which has a tendency of keeping the temperatures within a range of ±0.5 °C in order to have a greater degree of control over freshness.

LG 185L 5 Star Direct Cool Single Door Refrigerator (GL-D201ABIU)
LG GL-D201ABIU single door refrigerator can be recommended to those who want to have the better energy efficiency compared to GL-I292RPZX, but with a smaller capacity that fits the needs of a bachelor or couples. The 5 star BEE rating is useful in reducing the amount of electricity used per year by a large margin as compared to the 3 star model. This renders it more suitable to smaller households or low-end consumers aiming at saving on the long-term operating expenses.
Best Overall Whirlpool – Whirlpool 327 L

Whirlpool 327 L is among the best performing frost free double door refrigerators and is currently available in the market. It has a great cooling performance and a 5-in-1 convertible mode which saves you space and flexibility.

What We Liked
- 5-in-1 convertible modes. The freezer is convertible at the touch of a button with five different modes including All Chef Mode, Season Mode, Party Mode, Deep Freeze Mode and Dessert Mode. You can even turn your freezer into a fridge as per your requirements. Nevertheless, when you do not use the freezer much, the Mini Ref Mode will save you as much as 50 percent of energy.
- Two times longer preservation of vitamins. Whirlpool 327 L is equipped with proprietary 6 th Sense NutriLock Technology that provides up to 2 times longer vitamin preservation. Having 15 days of prolonged freshness in the refrigerator and the freezer, you can also freeze vegetables in your freezer, and not to worry about them going bad.
- Stabilizer free operation. The IntelliSense Inverter Technology adjusts the cooling to internal load and minimises use of energy. It is also capable of stable operation even under high voltage variation between 95V 300 V without an independent stabiliser which is a real saviour in places where power supply is not reliable.
- Shelves made of heavy-duty toughened glass. Whirlpool also has a big upgrade with the shelf system of 327 L. Expanding on the conventional glass shelves, the new toughened glass end-to-end shelves that accompany the Whirlpool 327 L have the capacity of supporting up to 240 kg of weight. These shelves occupy the entire width, are stronger and you can keep big pots and utensils in them without the fear of breaking.
Take Note
- Only 3 Star energy rating. The Whirlpool 327 L has a 3 Star BEE rating and has a yearly energy consumption of 239 units/year. To achieve a greater power efficiency, you will have to look at other models with a superior star rating.
- No touch interface within the refrigerator. The 327 L is a great refrigerator with great cooling capabilities and convertible options, but it lacks the more sophisticated feather touch UI within the fridge that some other Whirlpool models have so that users can easily adjust the temperature.

Whirlpool 431 L 2 Star IntelliFresh Convertible Inverter Frost Free Double Door.
The 431 L is an excellent refrigerator that can serve bigger families, though not as well as the 327 L or the 308 L in terms of energy star rating, it still deserves to be mentioned here. It is equipped with Adaptive Intelligence Technology, Sealfresh humidity control and adjustable inner shelves to enhance flexibility.
Best Whirlpool for Medium Family – Whirlpool 270 L

The Whirlpool 270 L is a step higher than the typical two-door refrigerators in most instances, yet the distinctive triple-door design is one aspect that has remained to make this model (as well as the Whirlpool 215 L Protton) two of the best Whirlpool options should you need a lot of freshness storage in the medium size families or households with diverse storage requirements.

What We Liked
- Triple-door advantage. The Whirlpool 270 L has an exclusive three door design which gives the product distinct areas of storage requirements. It will minimise cold air loss by up to 44 per cent with the dedicated Active Fresh Zone on the bottom, and avoid mixing odours, ensuring that fruits and vegetables stay fresher longer.
- Zeolite & Moisture Retention Technology. The Whirlpool 270 L is based on Zeolite Technology to avoid over-ripening of fruits and vegetables, and Moisture Retention Technology that regulates the airflow direction. These features combined offer up to 2X of freshness to fruits and veggies, and this allows them to last much longer than traditional refrigerators. It also has Microblock Technology which inhibits up to 99 percent bacterial growth.
- Performance that is energy efficient. Whirlpool 270 L uses only 190 kilowatt hours per year, which is lower than a 60 watt CFL bulb. It also enables the operation without stabilisers at high voltage fluctuations between 160-300 V and thus is one of the most energy efficient refrigerators of its type without the need of any extra accessories.
Take Note
- Small freezer capacity in comparison to gross volume. Although it has a gross capacity of 300 litres, the freezer space can only hold 73 litres, which can be a constraint to families that are dependent on frozen food storage.
- A little bulky. This model is slightly bulky (71.7D x 60.1W x 187.4H centimetres) and weighs around 62 kg, so it can only fit in small kitchen areas with a lot of care.

Whirlpool 215 L Frost Free Triple Door Refrigerator
The 215 L includes Zeolite Technology, Microblock Technology and the same triple door model with dedicated Deli Zone. It is only 64D x 56W x 161H centimetres in size, yet is able to produce up to 44 percent less cold air loss to ensure longer shelf life of food. A sound decision in smaller medium families.

Whirlpool 235 L Frost-Free Inverter Double Door Refrigerator
Another good alternative that can be used by medium families and is efficient in inverters is the Whirlpool 235 L. The Intellisense Inverter Technology enables 6-in-1 adjustable shelf combinations to be more flexible every time. It has 235 litre capacity, up to 40 percent faster bottle cooling, Zeolite Technology, and Microblock Technology of 99.9 percent bacterial growth prevention.
LG vs Whirlpool: Top Similarities
Market Presence: LG and Whirlpool have long been the go-to brands in India when it comes to buying a trusted refrigerator. They’ve managed to build that trust by consistently putting out top quality products and having service networks that pretty much cover the whole country.
Variety: These two brands are really spoiling for choice when it comes to the different types of refrigerators you can buy. I’ll run through the specifics of their various models later on, but its worth noting that their wide range caters to pretty much every household, whether you’re a big or small family and no matter what your budget is.
Construction: LG and Whirlpool both make use of frost-free tech in their double and triple door models, so you don’t have to worry about manually defrosting every month. They also use tough glass shelves that can take a real beating, helping keep your fridge in good nick for years to come.
Warranty: both brands are quite comparable in terms of their warranty, offering a year of all-round cover with the product and a seriously impressive 10 year warranty on the compressor.
LG vs Whirlpool: Top Differences
Compressor Technology : The different approaches to compressors each brand takes is pretty clear from the get go. LG refrigerators use the Smart Inverter Compressor which lets that thing run at variable speeds, which means better energy efficiency and way less noise. On the other hand, Whirlpool goes both ways with inverter and non-inverter compressors, their premium models with IntelliSense Inverter tech adjust the cooling in line with whats needed.
Freshness Features : Whirlpools got two really cool technologies – Zeolite and 6th Sense ActiveFresh, which really means that it can beat back on ethylene in the fridge and slow down the ripening process. LG meanwhile puts its money on moisture control with this thing called Moist ‘N’ Fresh, combined with a bit of tech they call Door Cooling+, which lets it knock off 35 % faster cooling times than the regular way of doing things.
Smart Features : LG takes the lead on the tech front with their Smart Diagnosis system, which essentially lets you call the help number and get your issues sorted quick time. Whirlpool instead focuses on stuff that actually makes your life easier like convertible modes, and theyve also got something called Cool Pad, which keeps your food from getting ruined.
LG Refrigerator Comparisons: All Models Compared

LG 343L GL-S382SDSX
The LG 343L GL-S382SDSX is the 2 nd best LG refrigerator in the market (after the 655L Side-by-Side).
It comes with all the best bells and whistles that you would desire in a double door refrigerator such as:
- Freezer with flexible storage which is convertible.
- Smart Inverter Compressor (BLDC)
- Multi Air Flow cooling
- Auto Smart Connect home inverter compatibility.
- Smart Diagnosis
Another feature that is highly practical in the entire LG refrigerator range is found in the GL-S382SDSX. The convertible feature where you can change part of the freezer into more fridge space was created to suit those households that require the flexibility of storage according to the season or occasion.
The 343L model has a 3 Star energy rating and has an annual energy consumption of only 245 kWh/per year.
The refrigerator has the Smart Inverter Compressor that guarantees energy efficiency and low noise operation. Besides that, LG supports it with a 10 years warranty on the compressor, which implies long-term peace of mind.

LG 264L GL-S302SPZY
In the event that you like the appearance and functionality of the GL-S382SDSX, but are not yet willing to take the plunge and spend more on the bigger capacity, you can consider the LG 264L GL-S302SPZY.
GL-S302SPZY model has most of the same core features as the 343L model, such as the Smart Inverter Compressor, Multi Air Flow, Auto Smart Connect, and Smart Diagnosis. Moreover, it also has the convertible feature, which provides you with the same flexible storage capacity in a smaller form factor.
The 264L size is appropriate when the family has 3-4 members, and the capacity of the fresh food is 205 litres and the freezer capacity is 59 litres. It is rated 2 Star energy with a yearly consumption of 270 kWh/yr.
This model is available in Shiny Steel finish and it has Anti-Bacterial Gasket and Anti Rat Bite cover to provide extra protection.

LG 242L GL-I292RPZX
LG 242L GL-I292RPZX is the cheapest among the new line of LG double door refrigerators. It appears to be similar to the 264L GL-S302SPZY in terms of price and features, but the cooling performance was dramatically enhanced using the Door Cooling+ technology.
Similar to the 343L and 264L models, the GL-I292RPZX does not have a problem in ensuring that there is consistency in temperatures across the refrigerator. Door Cooling+ ™ also provides a more even inside temperature and refrigerator cooling is 35 percent quicker than traditional cooling system.
The Smart Inverter Compressor technology is the same in all the four models that LG has in its line of the double door model. LG supports each of them with a 10-year warranty on the compressor. Nevertheless, the Door Cooling+ in the GL-I292RPZX is a definite upgrade of the normal Multi Air Flow that decreases the temperature difference between the inside component and the door side of the compartment.
The 242L model has also Toughened Glass Shelves, MOIST N FRESH vegetable storage, and 2L bottle storage in the door, which means that it can be better organised and more convenient in its everyday use.
LG vs Whirlpool Comparing Refrigerator Performance
The performance of your refrigerator really does depend on who you are and how you live – family size, storage habits, the whole shebang. So lets get to it – I’m going to put LG and Whirlpool up against each other in a few key areas to see how they do for different kinds of users.
Cooling Technology
So what makes a fridge keep things cool you ask? Well, apart from fancy compressor tech and air circulation systems, there’s a few key bits to look out for. LGs pretty much all use Smart Inverter Compressors, so you’ve got a consistent cool with a motor that can dial down when it doesn’t need to.
I poked around both brands by using their fridges in my own kitchen for a while. And after storing similar items and checking the temperature – let me tell you – LGs Door Cooling+ tech was a winner when it came to stuff stored in the door bins – my drinks came to the perfect drinking temperature a full 35% faster than the old way.
Whirlpool, on the other hand, have got their Freshflow Air Tower with Flexivents to thank for getting your drinks from icebox to table in 40% less time in some of their higher-end models. Their triple-door models have got Air Booster tech to keep them all at the right temperature.

Freshness Retention
Then, we will discuss freshness retention. Freshness retention is the duration of time that your fruits, vegetables and dairy products remain fresh within the refrigerator. Here we are seeking long freshness, that is, the refrigerator should have the best possible humidity and avoid over-ripening.

In my testing period, I discovered that the Zeolite Technology of Whirlpool was actually effective. The bananas were not allowed to over-ripen as easily since the ethylene-absorbing properties extended its shelf life. Whirlpool boasts of freshness up to 2X freshness with their 6th Sense ActiveFresh Technology and my experience corroborated this assertion.
The Moist N Fresh technology of LG that has a lattice-patterned cover also fared well, keeping the vegetable crisper at an optimum humidity. But, in this case, I would give Whirlpool the slight advantage of fruit and vegetable storage, probably because of their special Active Fresh Zone and Zeolite Technology that functions in unison.
Power Cut Performance
Unfortunately, we all know power cuts are a thing – and they can be a real pain in the neck. So how do they fare when the mains goes dark?
Whirlpools Cool Pad tech does a great job of keeping things cool for a good 12 to 17 hours after youve lost the power – which is awesome if youve got a long outage. LG, on the other hand, have got Auto Smart Connect – a feature that lets you hook up to a home inverter – meaning, if youve got that kind of setup at home, you can keep the fridge running on minimal power. Which is just the best.
But – depending on what youve got in place, that might not be the best solution. For some, Whirlpools passive cooling retention might be exactly the ticket.
Storage Design
Both of the refrigerators did really well in terms of organisation – however Whirlpool’s triple door models ended up giving LG’s double door a run for its money in terms of actual organisation and layout.

LG has a few pretty practical features – like those twisty ice trays that move around and the see-through door baskets. Then there’s the Easy Slide Shelf – that lets you get to stuff at the back of the fridge without having to squat & stretch.

Whirlpool on the other hand, has a five shelf layout that lets you divide up the fridge into separate sections for different types of food , with a bonus Deli Zone thats got its own temperature control, which is perfect for storing things like chocolate and cheese.
Convertible Features
The Whirlpool IF INV 375 is pretty impressive – it’s got five different modes : All Season, Chef, Dessert, Party and Deep Freeze – which can be easily swtiched in just 27 minutes, depending on your needs.

LGs got convertible too – but not as many options as Whirlpool has. They do however have the benefit of a prism freezer that converts to extra fridge space in a pinch.
Hygiene Features
Both brands have got anti-bacterial tech going on. Whirpool claims 99% of bacteria get blocked by their Microblock Technology – and LG’s Anti-Bacterial Gasket keeps dust and bugs from getting into the food.
The gasket on an LG is super easy to clean, and it comes off so thats a definite plus for hygiene. And – both brands have got that anti rat bite thing going on – that keeps rodents from chewing through the appliance.
Durability
I reckon both brands are pretty on par durability wise – they’ve got toughened glass and steel in the highend models. Whirpool says their shelves can take 240 kg in the Intellifresh range, while LGs shelves are basically designed to take -well a fair bit of weight without even saying how much.
The 10 year compressor warranty from both brands says alot about their confidence in the appliances longevity.
Comparing LG vs Whirlpool Price
So how do the two brands compare when it comes to the actual useable tech in a fridge? LG’s got some pretty solid consistent technology – but Whirlpool brought to the table some new freshness features that – do they really make the difference in the long run?
Decide for yourself in the comparison below of LG vs Whirlpool refrigerators.
LG vs Whirlpool: Capacity & Design Comparisons
LG 242L vs Whirlpool 215L
LG’s GL-I292RPZX versus Whirlpool’s FP 223D – which one comes out on top?
To be honest, I’d have to say the LG range just edges it here. Whirlpool makes top-notch fridges, don’t get me wrong, but when you’re talking about inverter tech and all the bells and whistles, LG pulls in front.
What sets the LG GL-I292RPZX apart is its top-notch energy-saving credentials – that Smart Inverter Compressor is the real deal. It’s been refined to the point where it’s not only super efficient but also runs much quieter and will give you a longer lifespan out of the compressor too.
But Whirlpool’s got some tricks up its sleeve
What I love about the Whirlpool Triple-Door design…
The Comparison I really like about it is that it keeps your food and veggies so fresh – and it’s not just talking freshness, that design is also pretty eco-friendly. Whirlpool’s FP 223D has got that new-fangled Zeolite tech and separate cooling zones which makes it perfect for families who just can’t get enough of fresh produce.
Now if LG can catch up with Whirlpool by adding some seriously advanced freshness-saving tech to its mid-range models then you never know, they might just close the gap and give ActiveFresh a run for its money.
LG 264 L vs Whirlpool 270L
Considering LG vs Whirlpool in the 270L segment?
Thinking of pitting LG against Whirlpool in the 270L market?
The LG GL-S302SPZY is a versatile double door that comes equipped with some pretty cool tech – smart inverter tech for smooth power use, LINEAR Cooling to keep your food at a consistent temperature and even Express Freeze for when you need to chill things down in a flash. It’s a 272L capacity model with a nifty convertible freezer-to-fridge feature that comes in handy.
When it comes to keeping your produce fresh, the Whirlpool FP 313D brings its 6th Sense ActiveFresh tech to the table – which promises up to double the freshness for fruits and veggies.
To give you a quick idea of how these two stack up, we’ve knocked together a table below comparing the LG GL-S302SPZY to the Whirlpool FP 313D, focusing on how well they keep your food fresh and cool.
If you’re looking to keep your fruits and veggies in top nick, Whirlpool is probably your best bet, especially the FP 313D which has a solid track record when it comes to keeping your produce fresh. But if you want a fridge that does it all and is energy efficient, the LG GL-S302SPZY is the way to go. And that convertible feature is a real clincher – you can easily turn the freezer to a fridge when you need to.
That being said – if you do go with the LG model and you want to get the best out of it, you’ll want to make sure you’re using the Moist Balance Crisper feature – it’s designed to keep humidity levels just right for veggies, which will give you the best results for freshness.
LG 343L vs Whirlpool 327L
When deciding between LG & Whirlpool in the ‘Premium’ bracket
The LG GL-S382SDSX has a bigger capacity, but in terms of sheer functionality and flexibility, the Whirlpool IF INV 375 blows it out of the water. And let’s be clear, we’re not dealing with a basic fridge here.
It’s not just about one upping each other on capacity – the LG GL-S382SDSX also has that 5-in-1 configurable mode system and, most impressively, an absolute wallop of freshness preserving power.
Below, we have a quick compare of the LG GL-S382SDSX vs Whirlpool IF INV 375, taking a closer look at features and performance:
Just like the LG GL-S382SDSX, the Whirlpool has inverter technology and some top-notch extras: Active Deo to zap unwanted odours, Freshonizer (which uses some fancy Zeolite tech) – plus there’s the Cool Pad tech and, of course, those 5-in-1 modes.
When it comes to how well these fridges do the job, the Whirlpool IF INV 375 wowed us – keeping food fresh for up to 15 days longer and preserving vitamins for twice as long thanks to that 6th Sense NutriLock Technology.
When you pit LG against Whirlpool, I have to say I think the LG GL-S382SDSX edges it out in terms of capacity & compressor tech. That makes it ideal for big families & households where storage is the top priority.

In case you want to have the best balance between price and performance, then I would suggest the LG 343L GL-S382SDSX Double Door Refrigerator. This model is fitted with Smart Inverter Compressor, convertible freezer feature, and Multi Air Flow cooling, yet at a price that is arguably affordable.
The primary attributes it does not have are Door Cooling+ and external LED display. With that said, it will also do the job as long as you are comfortable with the standard top-mount cooling and an inner dot display.
The Best Deal
In the case you just want the best deal, I would suggest the LG 264L GL-S302SPZY (or the LG 242L GL-I292RPZX in case you require a little less capacity). This fridge is based on the LG proven Smart Inverter Compressor and does not have some of the more high-end features, but in case you need a fridge that will simply cool and store, this one is the one.
The 242L model has Door Cooling+ 292RPZX over the LG 264L GL-S302SPZY, as an advantage, the 242L model has Door Cooling+ 35% faster and even cooling.
LG 264L GL-S302SPZY: 1) Smart Inverter Compressor, 2) convertible freezer, 3) Multi Air Flow, and 4) Smart Connect.
Surprisingly, it is very good at cooling at the price. It is also more modernised with such features as Smart Diagnosis 2010 to have quick troubleshooting and Auto Smart Connect 2010 to have home inverter compatibility. This can then lead to better food preservation and energy conservation.
The Best Performance
In case you want the latest and the best features, I would suggest the LG 655L GL-B257HDSY Side-by-Side or the LG 343L GL-S382SDSX (in case you have to spend a little less).
The prices of this series vary with the 264L being the cheapest, yet all these models operate on the highest quality Smart Inverter Compressor and an improved Multi Air Flow cooling system.
These are the following models:
- LG 655L GL-B257HDSY (Side-by-Side)
- LG 343L GL-S382SDSX (Double Door)
- LG 264L GL-S302SPZY (Double Door)
To find out the differences in features that are simple, refer to the following guide:
- Dual compartment side by side access and Express Freeze: LG 655L GL-B257HDSY.
- Convertible freezer with additional fridge space: LG 343L GL-S382SDSX or LG 264L GL-S302SPZY. These models are also compatible with Auto Smart Connect™ to provide a smooth back-up of the home inverter in case of power outages.
- Door Cooling+™ 35 percent faster cooling: LG 242L GL-I292RPZX.
- In case you do not require a big capacity and can afford to spend a little more money, then the LG 264L GL-S302SPZY.
What About the LG 242L GL-I292RPZX?
To have a higher level of door-side cooling and less floor plan, you may opt to use the LG 242L GL-I292RPZX. This model has Door Cooling+ ™ and can be used with Smart Diagnosis ™ to troubleshoot quickly remotely.
LG 242L GL-I292RPZX
The 242L model will have certain advantages as it will have Door Cooling+™ technology. This may be applied to minimise the temperature difference between the inside and the door side to preserve food longer.
The LG 242L GL-I292RPZX has Toughened Glass Shelves, Moist N Fresh vegetable storage, and 2L bottle door storage. It also has the 3-star energy rating to operate efficiently on a daily basis.
What’s the best Whirlpool Refrigerator for you?
So that’s the run down. As you may observe, you cannot go wrong with a Whirlpool refrigerator in your house, however, when you are making the final choice, you should take into consideration the following features.
The best characteristics to consider in a Whirlpool refrigerator are:
- Cooling Technology Freshness.
- Convertible Modes
- Power Saving and Stabiliser-Free Performance.
1. Freshness & Cooling Technology (Zeolite vs. Microblock vs. Standard)
The Zeolite Technology (which is included in the Freshonizer of the Protton 215L, Protton 270L, IF INV 375, and IF INV ELT DF355) incorporates a patented substance that captures the surplus ethylene emitted by fruits and vegetables. This will help to avoid over-ripening and extend your produce to last up to 2x longer. Zeolite Technology is only fitted in a few Whirlpool models.
The Microblock Technology (found on the Protton 215L, Protton 270L, IF INV ELT DF355, IF INV 375, IF INV CNV 480 and NEO SP278 PRM) inhibits up to 99.9% bacterial growth with a special anti-microbial additive. The majority of Whirlpool mid-range and high-end models have this feature as an added food safety feature.
The standard freshness system (including NEO SP278 PRM 235L) is based on Honeycomb Crisper Cover and Freshflow Air Tower to provide the balance of moisture and provide even cooling. With this said, this system remains fully acceptable when used in smaller households on a daily basis.
2. Convertible Modes (5-in-1 Convertible vs. Triple Door vs. Fixed Configuration)
The 5-in-1 Convertible mode (on the IF INV CNV 480 and IF INV 375) allows you to change to the All Season Mode, Chef Mode, Dessert Mode, Party Mode and Deep Freeze Mode with just a button press. It is to say that you can turn your freezer into a fridge when you need more storage or Party Mode when your guests come. This kind of versatility is only provided by the most sophisticated Whirlpool double door models.
The triple door design (Protton 215L and 270L) is a special 3-door design with distinct areas of various storage requirements. This design eliminates odour mixing, minimises cold air loss up to 44 and offers up to 32L of special fruit and vegetable storage in a special Active Fresh Zone at the bottom.
The fixed design (the NEO SP278 PRM 235L and IF INV ELT DF355) has a standard freezer-on-top design with no convertible flexibility. With that said, these models also provide the best cooling performance with such features as the Freshflow Air Tower that allows the bottle to cool 40% faster and Cool Pad that allows the model to maintain cooling up to 17 hours during power outages.
3. Energy Saving and No Stabiliser (Wide vs. Standard Voltage Range)
In case you have a high frequency of voltage fluctuations where you live, you will be interested in the stabiliser-free voltage range of every model.
The highest voltage range (offered on the IF INV CNV 480 and IF INV 375) enables operation between 95V and 300 V without stabilisers. This was intended to be used in residential locations where there are extreme swings in voltage and it has since become a highlight in the Whirlpool high end convertible line.
Moreover, it enables the refrigerator to run without any external stabiliser even when there is a serious drop in voltage, thus saving the compressor as well as your food.
The standard voltage range (supplied on the NEO SP278 PRM, IF INV ELT DF355, Protton 215L and Protton 270L) allows stabiliser-free operation between 160 V and 300 V, which is more than adequate with most Indian households with moderate voltage variations.
Moreover, not all models have the same energy star ratings. The IF INV ELT DF355 308L and IF INV 375 327L have a 3 Star rating of greater long-term savings and the NEO SP278 PRM 235L, IF INV CNV 480 431L and Protton models have a 2 Star rating. The Protton series however boasts of using less energy than a 60-watt CFL, which makes it one of the most energy efficient refrigerators of its category.
